Vehicle Appraiser - Avonmouth

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Assist the Yard Manager to accurately determine and carry out an appraisal of vehicles offered for sale at the auction centre, in line with customers’ requirements, so that details of the condition and specification of vehicles entered onto the in-house system is accurate.
  • Ensure that vehicles are booked in and photographed in readiness for cataloguing in line with operational requirements.
  • Undertake appraisal of vehicles in line with customer requirements and enter information onto the Company system accurately and in a timely manner. This may include costing’s as per the BVRLA handbook.
  • Ensure that non-runners are notified to the appropriate manager.
  • Administer vehicle details at the gatehouse according to company or customer procedures. Undertake reviews to ensure that knowledge of vehicles specification is current.
  • Operate industrial machinery such as forklift trucks, plant & machinery
  • Undertake any cross-functional tasks in the yard department to ensure that operational requirements are met. This may include driving on sale days.
  • Undertake ad-hoc tasks as necessary to meet the business needs and for your own personal development.

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience of managing and supervising work areas and the safe and efficient delivery of work
  • Knowledge of resource and work organisation / planning processes and systems
  • Confident and resourceful in the face of challenges
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures and instructions
  • Strong experience in  vehicle operation activities
  • Strong and safe working of industrial machinery such as forklift trucks, plant & machinery
  • Outstanding communication and organisational skills
  • Relevant academic qualifications or vocational skills could include: formal leadership training, continuous improvement, problem solving and relevant technical experience.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales.
