Job Profile

To provide through strong sales management both top and bottom line growth for the transport division of Montgomery Transport Group. The focus of the role will be to grow revenue at acceptable margins working closely with the SD to improve MT’s market position and achieve profitable financial growth. The critical aspects of the jobs role will be develop high level opportunities, the negotiation of contracts and the closure of new business opportunities. The successful candidate will identify long-term commercial objectives, develop and build key customer relationships with FMCG’s, identify business opportunities, while at the same time maintain and report current market trends and conditions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive Business Growth: Develop and grow full load sales both Eastbound and Westbound between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
  • Identify New Markets: Research and identify new business opportunities and convert them into trading partners.
  • Client Management: Build relationships with key decision-makers and maintain long-term partnerships.
  • Sales Strategy & Pipeline: Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline with a focus on consistent business growth.
  • Networking: Leverage professional networks to generate leads and secure new business.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Sales and Commercial teams to align strategies and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Data-Driven Approach: Conduct rate analyses, review cost structures, and recommend strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of long-term sales strategies and market expansion plans.
  • Travel is required and overnight stays away from home may be required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven working experience in a logistical environment able to demonstrate sound operational and commercial knowledge of the industry
  • Proven sales track record with a strong record of closing major deals
  • Total ability to work to targets and to be judged by the same
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage a sales pipeline that provides continual growth
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software
  • Market knowledge
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders
  • Time management and planning skills
  • Confident and resourceful in the face of challenges
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures and instructions
